The discipline of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System is a significant branch of Control Science and Engineering. It was authorized to set up master’s program in 1994 and doctoral programs in 2000 and has post doctor stations as well. In 2002, it was awarded as Key Discipline of Beijing. Plus, it is an essential subject to the Ministry of Education’s Key Laboratory “Complex System Intelligent Control and Decision Making” and Beijing Key Laboratory “Automatic Control System”. After long-term construction and development, it has made significant achievements in talents development, teaching team construction, scientific research, laboratory construction and academic exchange.
Currently, there are 19 faculty members in the Institute of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System, including 4 professors (3 are doctoral supervisors), 8 associate professors and 7 lecturers. Among our teachers, 80% have doctoral degrees and 30% have the experience of studying abroad. The faculty has formed a team of reasonable knowledge structures, active thoughts and great domestic and foreign influence. This team has led more than 60 projects which were supported by Natural Science Foundation, 863 programs, 973 programs and so on. In addition, 33 patents and 19 software rights have been authorized, 350 papers have been published (36 were included in SCI, 150 were included in EI and 19 were included in ISTP).
We have considerable opportunities to exchange ideas with domestic and foreign scholars and have successfully held several international meetings. The achievements we have obtained make crucial contribution to economy and society and the profits reach as much as 0.25 billion.
