Vice President of BIT & Dean of Graduate School

Born in 1972, he is a BIT distinguished professor. He has served as the Vice President of BIT since November 2022, and the Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee since December 2022.


He was the first batch of chair professors at Beijing Institute of Technology, selected as Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professor (in 2006), and the first batch of National Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talents (in 2013). He has been granted the National 973 Program Chief Scientist (Outstanding Completion) and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (Outstanding Completion). He has made systematic and creative achievements in the field of femtosecond laser manufacturing, addressing long-standing theoretical and technical bottlenecks that have constrained the field for years. He has led the way in achieving irreplaceable major applications and industrialization of femtosecond laser processing, laying the key manufacturing foundation for five major national projects and 32 major models. He has been authorized 111 invention patents (with 98 ranked 1), published 332 SCI papers, with SCI citations of 8741 times (excluding self-citations) and has an H-index of 63. He has given 23 plenary or keynote speeches at academic conferences. He has received the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award (in 2016, ranked 1), the He Liang He Li Foundation Science and Technology Innovation Award (in 2017), the First Prize of the Ministry of Education's Technology Invention Award (in 2018, ranked 1) and the First Prize of Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress Award (in 2022, ranked 1). He has served as the head of the overall expert group for the National Key Research and Development Plan on Additive Manufacturing and Laser Manufacturing (in 2016) and has led the drafting of 12 national medium and long-term science and technology development plans and ministry-level plans in the field of laser manufacturing, among others. He serves as an editorial board member/associate editor of 10 journals including Science Partner Journal Research. He has been elected as the Springer Professor at the University of California, Berkeley (Honorary Professorship), a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME Fellow), and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA Fellow) , etc.
