Date: Sun Dec 5, 2004 3:23 pm by Ali Anwar Hey everyone, Recently I read this news on the internet, and I would like to discuss this with you guys!! It says: "ATLANTA: A rare sexually transmitted disease that is spreading among gay and bisexual men in Europe could be poised to surface in the United States, the US centres of Disease Control and Prevention warned. The agency on Thursday urged doctors and clinics across the US to be prepared to diagnose and treat gay and bisexual men infected with Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). The Netherlands has uncovered 92 cases of LGV dating back to last year. It typically sees fewer than five cases per year." Well... this is the news I read. After reading, I started wondering that is there really such a disease in this world, or are the doctors just saying this in order to prevent gay and bisexual relationships between men? Plus even if this news is true, and is only occuring in the US and Netherlands, that doesn't mean that we might not get infected... right? Please do write

LGV is certainly making a comeback The good news is that this is not a new secret campaign by the ministry of health to frighten men into playing safe. The bad news is, LGV is certainly making a comeback. Date: Wed Dec 8, 2004 Not a new gay disease Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is not a new gay disease - it is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) endemic & prevalent in Africa, Southeast Asia, Central and South America, and Caribbean countries .The clinical presentation of LGV depends on the sex of the patient, mode of sexual contact (e.g. vaginal or anal sex) and the stage of the disease. Symptoms can include genital ulcers and gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., bloody proctitis with a purulent or mucous anal discharge and constipation)
