President Zhang Jun led delegation to visit BUT

  

  In order to strengthen ties with the universities along the “Belt and Road” and promote international cooperation and exchanges between teachers and students, Prof. Zhang Jun, BIT’s President, recently led a delegation to visit the Brno University of Technology (BUT) and the Czech Ministry of Trade and Industry. .

  Petr Štěpánek, President of BUT, led Vice President Miroslav Doupovec, Vice President Jiří Hirš, Brno’s Mayor Petr Vokřál, and Dean of the School of Information Engineering Pavel Zemčík to extend warm welcome to President Zhang Jun and the delegation. President Zhang said that as the largest science and engineering university in the Czech Republic and the leading educational and scientific research institute in Central Europe, BUT has similarities with BIT in terms of the number of teachers and students, the setting of disciplines and the composition of scientific research. The visit of BIT’s delegation aims to establish a flagship partnership with BUT that could encourage and support exchanges between teachers and students of the two universities, conduct collaborative research, and jointly cultivate high-quality international innovative talents. The principals of the two universities reached consensus on student exchanges and teacher cooperation research, and signed MOU.

 

 

  President Zhang learned about the research achievements of School of Information Engineering, and discussed with the Dean Pavel Zemčík on the students joint training and the research projects joint application. The delegation visited a number of research laboratories.

  During the visit, President Zhang Jun and delegation also visited The Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) and listened to the report of Dr. Pavel Krečmer, Associate Dean of CEITEC. Pavel Krečmer said that he would like to invite BIT’s teachers and students to work in Brno, especially outstanding students to CEITEC for further study. Zhang Jun expressed his gratitude and requested that the recommendation work of teachers and students be implemented as soon as possible.

 

 

  At the invitation of the Czech Ministry of Trade and Industry, President Zhang Jun met with Petr Ocko, Executive Vice Minister of the Czech Ministry of Trade and Industry and Chairman of the Czech Cooperation Technology Agency, and Jiří Koliba, Executive Vice Minister Vice Minister of the Czech Ministry of Trade and Industry. Petr Ocko gave a detailed introduction to the fields supported by the Czech government. He highly appreciated the education and research cooperation between BUT and BIT, and was willing to support the high-tech research cooperation between the two universities under the cooperation framework of the two governments.

 

 

  Officials from Science and Technology Institute, the School of Design and Arts, and the International Affairs Office participated in the exchange activities.
