BIT Delegation’s Visit to Universities in Oceania

 

 

From 20th to 27th, May 2018, BIT delegation led by Vice President, Prof. WANG Xiaofeng, visited the University of Auckland, the University of New South Wales, and the Australian National University.

 

On May 21st, BIT delegation visited the University of Auckland (U of A). Prof WANG had an official meeting with Prof. Jennifer Dixon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of U of A to discuss the student program, academic exchange and joint research project between the two universities. The meeting was also joined by Prof. John Hosking, Dean of Faculty of Science, Prof. Sebastian Link, Associate Dean of Faculty of Science,academics from Faculty of Science, and staff from U of A International. The delegation also visited the U of A Automation and Robotics Engineering Center.

On May 23rd, BIT delegation visited the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and was welcomed by Mr. Laurie Pearcey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Julian Epps, Deputy Head of School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, Prof. Aruna Seneviratne, Deputy Head of the School and other professors to discuss joint educational projects of students. A Framework Memorandum of Understanding outlining the future cooperation between BIT and UNSW was signed by Prof WANG Xiaofeng and Mr. Laurie Pearcey. The delegation then visited teaching and research laboratories of UNSW.

On May 25th, BIT delegation visited the Australian National University (ANU), BIT’s longstanding partnership university. Prof. WANG Xiaofeng had an in-depth discussion with Ms Jane O’Dwyer, Vice-President of Engagement & Corporate Affairs of ANU to review the present cooperation and to map out future workplans. The two sides also talked over specific issues in various projects. Present at the meeting from ANU were Prof. Huntington, Dean of College of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr Lowe, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Rendell, Director of School of Computer Science, Dr. Weber, and Ms. Audrey Teo from College of Engineering and Computer Science.

 

The other members of the BIT delegation are representatives from the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, School of Information and Electronics, and School of Mechanical Engineering.
