BIT Delegation’s Visit to the Partner Universities

in Romania, Slovakia and Austria

 

From 16th to 25th May, 2018, BIT delegation led by Vice President, Prof. LI Hezhang visited University of Bucharest, “Lucian Blaga”University of Sibiu, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and Vienna University of Technology in Romania, Slovakia and Austria.

On May 17th, BIT Delegation visited the University of Bucharest (UOB). Founded in 1864, the University of Bucharest is the most prestigious institution of higher education in Romania. Prof. LI Hezhang had an official meeting with Dr. Sorin Costreie, UOB Vice President to discuss the student exchange project and the academic program of 2018 BIT Summer School with a theme of “Green Car & Autonomous Vehicle”. Dr. Sorin Costreie noted that as the former Vice Minister of Education of Romania, he has visited China many times and is confident about the prospects of cooperation in higher education between China and Romania. The Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Agreement between BIT and UOB were signed by Professor LI Hezhang and Dr. Sorin Costreie. 

On May 18th , BIT delegation visited “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (ULBS). ULBS is a Romanian public university founded in 1990 and became BIT’s partnership university in 2007. Professor LI Hezhang and the delegation were warmly welcomed by Prof. Ioan Bondrea, President of ULBS accompanied by Professor Wang Jion, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at ULBS.  Professor LI  and President Bondrea explored the possibility of having BIT faculty and students join in the EU "Erasmus +" project and they agreed on further cooperation in this regard. The delegation also visited the students’ dormitories, canteens, student activity centres accompanied by Ms. Preda, Director of International Relations Office and Maria, Director of ULBS Logistics Service. On May 19th , BIT delegation participated in the International Week of ULBS and met with 30 representatives of ULBS's partner universities from all over the world.

On May 23rd, BIT delegation visited Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava(SUT). Prof. Pavel Cicak, Vice-President of SUT and Prof. Li Hezhang had an official meeting, after which, the delegation visited the laboratories of SUT and discussed developing joint research projects with Prof. Monika Bakosova, Vice Dean of School of Chemisty and Food and other SUT professors.

 

On May 24th, BIT delegation visited Technical University of Vienna(TUW). Prof. Johannes Froohlich, Vice-Rector of Scientific Research, and Prof. Kurt Matyas, Vice-Rector of Teaching, warmly greeted Professor LI Hezhang and other delegates. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the further development of student mobility projects of undergraduate exchange and summer schools. Research cooperation opportunities in the field of material science, mechanical engineering were also proposed and probed. 

The other members of the BIT delegation are representatives from the School of Material Science, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Security Office and Office of International Affairs.
