On November 21st, 2016, the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs approved the application for the establishment of a 50-subject innovation and introduction base in the country. Beijing Institute of Technology’s " Innovation Introduction Base of Safety and Protection Discipline " was approved.
The Intellectual Innovation Project for Discipline Innovation in Colleges and Universities (abbreviated to “111 Plan”) is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Bureau. The overall goal is to target the development of international disciplines, based on domestic dominant disciplines, and focus on the national and provincial levels. The scientific research base is a platform for the introduction and gathering of a group of overseas academic masters and academic backbones from a team of superior disciplines in world-class universities or research institutes. It is equipped with a group of outstanding domestic scientific research backbones and builds a group of world-class academic innovation and introduction bases ("111 base"), training to build a high-level research team in China, promote more disciplines into the ranks of world-class disciplines, and improve the overall level of China's higher education and international influence.
The “Innovation Introduction Base of Safety and Protection Discipline” aims at the national strategic needs, and is based on the one first-class disciplines of “safety science and engineering”, relying on the SKLEST. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology collaborates with the Innovation Center to combine the development laws and future development trends in the field of security and protection with the existing research bases at home and abroad to utilize the advantages of disciplines and form an internationalized exchange and cooperation platform with a combination of science and complementary advantages. This will improve the discipline of our country’s safety and protection. The level of independent innovation in the field makes a positive contribution.
