BIT Liangxiang Campus Hospital

BIT Hospital, a third-class hospital founded by the university, is responsible for basic medical and public health services for all teachers and students on the Zhongguancun Campus, Liangxiang Campus and a small number of community residences around the university. 

Founded in 1953, the BIT Hospital was rated as a third-class hospital by the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau in 1996, and approved as a community health service center and a designated medicare hospital of the basic medical insurance system in Beijing in 2002. The hospital has over 80 staff members.

The hospital has various departments for Medical services, Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Stomatology, Psychiatry Health Care, and Nursing as well as a Pharmacy and three functional offices which are the Affairs Office, the Medical Office and the General Office. It also offers auxiliary examination departments for Radiology, B-ultrasonic examinations, Electrocardiograms and Laboratory services. Another important feature is its Outpatient Department on the Liangxiang Campus.

The hospital has implemented a series of innovative measures to continuously improve its overall service level and service capabilities as it strives to provide warm and quality services to teachers and students.

Outpatient Department of Liangxiang Campus

Located in the northern part of Liangxiang Campus, BIT Hospital's Outpatient Department was established in 2007. It has become a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment institution integrating medical treatment, health education, preventive health care and administrative management, and is responsible for the basic medical service for more than 10,000 teachers and students on Liangxiang Campus.

With the continuous development of Liangxiang Campus, the number of outpatients increases year by year, with the current annual outpatient volume reaching about 16,000. The diagnosis and treatment services of the department cover various common and frequently occurring diseases, prevention and management of infectious diseases in schools, emergency treatment of public health emergencies, physical examinations for the enrollment and graduation of students and for those taking part in various sports competitions, 24-hour medical security service during military training, and health education and psychological consultations for students. It also often carries out various forms of activities related to disease prevention and health education.

The Outpatient Department has several sub-departments including General and Specialist Practice Clinics, a Medical Technology Department for such areas as examination, radiation, electrocardiograms and ultrasound, and a Pharmacy, which can carry out intravenous infusion treatment, atomization inhalation therapy, assorted injections, and treatment of various surgical wounds. In addition, there are ten observation beds offering isolation for teachers and students suffering from infectious diseases. On every Saturday, experts from other hospitals are invited to the Outpatient Department to make diagnoses and give treatment to teachers and students suffering from mental illness. In order to further improve the prevention of AIDS among our students, cooperation is made with the Fangshan District's Center for Disease Prevention and Control to place HIV antibody test kit vending machines and free device dispensing machines in the halls of the Department.
